About this Mare: BK Jackies Smokin
Layla is a brown mare that we raised on our farm, and she has now stepped into her role as an important broodmare within our program. She has already produced two palomino foals, demonstrating not only her ability to breed true but also to pass on desirable colour and athletic type. She has good bone, correct conformation, sound feet and a kind, manageable temperament — all features we prioritise in our broodmare band. Raised and handled by us, Layla is comfortable around people, works well on the ground and has a calm, steady disposition that makes her easy to integrate into our program year after year.
About the Sire: LB Smokin Jack
Layla’s sire is LB Smokin Jack. Although detailed public performance records are limited, we know that he is a son of the well‑regarded stallion Ill Smoke Ya and out of a mare with strong foundation breeding. As noted on our website, one of his offspring (a sorrel filly born in 2020) was described as “the genetics to make a great rope horse, barrel horse or ranch horse” pointing to the versatility and athletic promise of this line. bokadesign.ca From this sire line Layla inherits athletic potential, good colour‑influence and structural strength — all valuable attributes in a mare destined to raise performance foals.
About the Dam: BK Jackies Diamon
Layla’s dam is BK Jackies Diamon, a mare chosen for her broodmare qualities: soundness, good temperament and a history of producing quality foals. Though her deeper pedigree details may be less publicly documented, the dam side brings reliability, trainability and an everyday‑good attitude — traits we see in Layla and count among the strongest broodmare attributes. Layla inherits from her dam the ability to raise foals that are handled easily, stand out for their mind as much as their pedigree, and mature into useful partners whether under saddle or in the breeding shed.

Our Program
At our farm near Steinbach, Manitoba, our goal is to raise sound, smart, athletic horses that thrive both in the rodeo pen and on the ranch.
We work with Elders Equine Veterinary Clinic to manage our breeding, vaccination, and health programs, and maintain a continuous mineral program from mare to foal. Our colts are raised on open pasture with the broodmare band, learning respect and herd dynamics from day one.
