About this Horse
When Jackie runs, you can hear it — like the sound of a freight train approaching. Standing 16 hands high, BK Jackie Delight is a powerhouse mare with bone, presence, and a steady, reliable disposition. Raised here on our farm from a foal, Jackie has been part of our program from the very beginning.
I started barrel racing on her when she was five, and she was the perfect horse to learn with — consistent, forgiving, and willing. Together, we progressed from slow, careful patterns to smooth, confident runs that improved a little every time.
Jackie has spent the past few years out on pasture, so she’s not currently in competition shape. When I saddled her after three years off, she rode off like no time had passed — quiet, responsive, and naturally balanced. She moves with confidence and strength, though she’s not the kind of horse that wants to run full speed. She’s a slow and steady loper with a powerful, ground-covering walk. Jackie would suit a beginner or intermediate rider who appreciates a calm, solid partner with some power behind her stride. She benefits from regular joint maintenance to stay loose and comfortable but remains a sound, dependable mare with the kind of foundation every horseman appreciates.
About the Sire
Jackie is sired by our old grey stallion “Banjo,” a son of the legendary Two Eyed Jack line — one of the most influential families in American Quarter Horse history. Two Eyed Jack was known for producing strong-boned, versatile offspring who excelled in both ranch and performance arenas, with over a hundred AQHA Champions to his name. That durability, calm mind, and classic Quarter Horse build are all stamped clearly on Jackie. Banjo’s foals are famously laid-back and easy to handle, with good minds and natural athleticism — horses that can go from ranch work to arena performance without losing their composure.
About the Dam
Jackie’s dam, Old Delight, was one of our most dependable broodmares — the kind that never needed to be asked twice. Her foals always had that little extra punch: heart, strength, and presence. Crossed with Banjo’s cool, willing nature, the result was a line of big, powerful foals with minds to match their muscle. Horses from this cross have proven themselves in every kind of work, from ranch chores to barrel racing, with soundness and trainability that stand the test of time.
Our Program
At our farm near Steinbach, Manitoba, we work closely with Elders Equine Veterinary Clinic to manage our vaccination, breeding, and care programs. Our mares and foals are on a continuous mineral program and raised on pasture with the herd, where they learn respect, herd dynamics, and how to move like real horses. Our breeding goal is simple — strong, athletic horses with great minds that can thrive in both ranch and rodeo settings.
